I'm taking some time off to get married so DialIdol's coverage of So You Think You Can Dance will begin on 7/20.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

I love you honey bunches! ;)

As predicted, Scotty McCreery won American Idol season 10 - congratulations Scotty!

... and thanks again to all of you for another great year!

DialIdol will be covering So You Think You Can Dance - though perhaps not until July 14.

DialIdol will also be covering the X-Factor is the format is applicable too!

Hope to see you all then and next year too!

Make no mistake about it - Scotty McCreery is absolutely predicted to be the winner of American Idol! After observing DIHardGraphs all night last night it seems to me that this was the most definitive finale prediction DialIdol has made. GeoPredictions makes the race look a little closer - but some of that is smoke and mirrors because there weren't dialers for every contestant in every state. Of course the best way to know for sure who wins is to watch in to American Idol live tonight on FOX!

This of course does conclude another season and I thank you all for keeping DialIdol bookmarked, for not forgetting about this site in the off-season and for coming back every week! Your visits make this all worthwhile!

DialIdol will be covering X-Factor if it uses an applicable format so be sure to come back in the fall!

P.S. Happy birthday Nancy! :)

Well finally a week without a Jacob Lusk warning! ... actually its a week without a warning at all! Really all I'll say is that things seem consistent across all the indicators and the predictions seem sound. Whether that translates into accuracy is another matter that we'll all figure out tomorrow when we watch the American Idol results show live on FOX @ 8 - 7 Central! (I so have nothing to do with FOX/Freemantle/19 - its just kind of fun to say - ya know? :)

Another week, another post about Jacob's score being inflated due to low call volume. For this reason - I won't be sad to see him go when he goes and this week could definitely be the week. This is especially true when you factor in that Haley is actually predicted to be winning in four six states (as of this writing). This is generally a sign of strength and while Scotty, Lauren and James are winning more states than Haley - Jacob is winning none. We'll see how the rest of the night goes but right now I'd be voting for Jacob if your a Jacob fan and based on the number of DialIdol dialers dialing for him - I'd suspect your not.

Wednesday April 27, 2011

I am probably starting to sound like a broken record but ... once again Jacob Lusk's prediction is inflated due to low call volume. Though Jacob is predicted to be in danger of being voted off and thus you should be concerned if you are a Jacob fan - as a result of this "anomaly" you should be even more concerned than the predictions page eludes too.

Just thought I'd follow up and let you know that Stefano's prediction of being the bottom vote getter is NOT definitive however he should make an appearance in the bottom three as should Casey.

According to the predictions page Jacob and Scotty should not even be in the bottom three though I am not as confident in Jacob's prediction because of the low call volume.

Should be an interesting night!

Again Jacob Lusk's prediction may be over-stated because of his low call volume by DialIdol dialers. To put it in perspective - he has so few calls that the next lowest call getter (Stefano) has more than three times the number of calls!

Speaking of Stefano - if you're a fan - keep voting - because his prediction isn't encouraging for him and is hard to argue from a DialIdol numbers perspective. He's came in dead last 7 out of the 13 intervals as of this writing (10:25pm Eastern). Look for a definitive prediction for him to go home if things keep up.

Wednesday April 13, 2011

Jacob Lusk's prediction may be over-stated. A comparative low number of calls combined with a higher than usual number of busy signals from someone in Alabama may be to blame. This can be seen in GeoPredictions.

Some things about tonight ...

First and foremost - the first 30mn of East coast voting is the most critical and the server DialIdol runs on decided to have a moment (actually a few moments) and as a result 10-15 minutes worth of critical predictions data was lost while the server rebooted itself.

Naima Adedapo's score may be higher than it should be due to very few DialIdol'ers dialing for her and a few too many busy signals detected for her. There needs to be enough people dialing for all the contestants to get a good prediction - without it there is a wider margin of error.

Thursday March 3, 2011

What a results show! My favorite non-finale results show yet! Less filler and more results! It didn't even feel like a 2 hour show (though admittedly my DVR helped with that).

Well let's get right to it - its been a while since DialIdol was definitely wrong but alas all good things must come to an end and yes - DialIdol predicted Julie and Tatynisa would absolutely stay and they absolutely went home so both of those predictions were wrong. For those wondering - why? ... well I eluded to it in the post from yesterday (see below) - there weren't enough people dialing for them - especially right after the show ended on the East coast. Lack of dialers means more room for error and errors there were!

On the other hand Lauren Alaina and Scotty were both absolutely predicted to stay and they did - so those predictions were accurate.

Now technically all the other predictions were accurate but they were pretty vague so I had to think about how DialIdol would grade itself given this unusual results week. You see usually DialIdol is graded exclusively on the people who are sent home and usually there is more precision in those results. In this case the results of those who are staying have more precision but grading exclusively on them would be an unfair representation of DialIdol because it would ignore DialIdol having been wrong about Julie and Tatynisa.

I don't want to set a precedent that DialIdol only gets graded on the definitive predictions it makes because most of the time DialIdol doesn't operate like that so this week DialIdol will grade itself on every prediction which means DialIdol is 91% accurate this season.

It wasn't but four minutes into the girls vote when I became suspicious of Tatynisa Wilson's prediction. It looks like a fan in New York may have been getting more busy signals than usual and because so few other people were voting for her - her prediction may be over-stated a bit. I would suspect significantly so.

Julie Zorilla's score may be over-stated too but there isn't as much evidence here.

Both girls simply don't have nearly the amount of calls placed for them with DialIdol. Ashton has the third fewest calls at this moment and yet she has twice as many as Julie and three times as many as Tatynisa - more than both combined.

Saturday February 26, 2011

DialIdol has moved to its in-season home today so things were down a bit. If things act funny - let me know.

American Idol will introduce on-line voting this year. They will still be allowing phone voting and assuming they keep that the same as in years past - DialIdol should be able to continue to make predictions. Now on-line voting and a declining audience combined with the ever growing popularity of text messaging may limit busy signals which may limit DialIdol's ability to be provide definitive predictions.

There may be some news coming this season for DialIdol/Android fans so stay tuned.
