How is everyone in the eastern region doing? I hope you are all not shake, rattle and rollin' any more and don't have any damage from today's earthquake. When I heard about it, I couldn't help but have flashbacks to the years I lived in So. California and especially the big earthquake of 1996 (or was it '94? I may have blocked it from my mind). It's bad enough when you are used to earthquakes like we were in California, so my heart goes out to you all who have probably never experienced this before.
Please post your thoughts and I hope you all get back to rockin' and rollin' of another kind . . . |

Well... Stella, I was actually weed wacking and idolwild was doing the riding mower just north of Columbus here and neither of us felt a thing (SHE was not drinking) I however have an excuse.
I first heard about it 20 minutes after it happened when I returned to my outdoor backyard "office" and my Akron radio station online had a ton of callers and the show host sharing their experiences during the event and my first thought was WTF???
Apparently his equipment in the studio shifted, one caller thought she was having her second stroke, Washington Gov offices had been evacuated and Cleveland high rise structures were rocking according to reports from Newsnet5 which we still get here on cable.
We didn't feel a damn thing. Columbus news reported tonight that areas there experienced it but nothing is even slightly out of place on our shelves or pix on the wall so I guess when I moved here I found a true safe haven.
Perhaps buckeye can enlighten us on the direct Columbus area, we felt NOTHING.
I've experienced 2 good ones in my 56 years and today here in the twilight zone was yet just another day in paradise with the lady of my dreams.
P.S. Our pug runs circles around the riding mower to stay in good shape and "Reeny" did not report anything unusual to us either.

| I did not feel it. I spent most of the day in Cinci and Dayton, so was probably driving at about the time it happened. I saw lots of comments on Facebook about it, but I felt nothing. My wife said they felt it at her work, which is close to Columbus airport. |

| I'm only an hour or so from where the quake actually happened and I didn't feel it. I was driving home from school and I got on Facebook while I had a few minutes and saw everyone talking about it. Had no clue what everyone was talking about. |

It would seem evident that if we were in cars, on lawn mowers, or half trashed weed whacking the quake was a non issue from the testimony posted herein.
IRENE however is a matter that might affect Star, Catbert, and perhaps the G-Man...
This is now the official "STORM THREAD" !

Hummmmmmm, looks like none of our members have survived the 50 mile an hour winds of Irene...
Hell, I got those in my face everyday on my Harley (in second gear) I drink a lot but just hold on tight to the handlebars and push a few more gears to reach maximum wind resistance, no problem...
This forum is like the land of the dead this time of year, I guess everyone is hiding in their basement until the blizzards of Winter arrive...
Then everyone will ***** about that.
In between the many Summer time activities I indulge in at least I still try to give my forum friends a call once a day or so.
"I agree".
Heh Heh...

| I survived many beers and shots of tequila while floating in the gulf last week... we all stood and faced east and blew the hurricane away from us... |

I FELT IT!!!
I was at the airport going to visit my family out west. Sitting around with a bunch of CA folks waiting to board when all of a sudden there was a rumbling....sounded like a train going by and you're standing right there at it. The building started shaking...as in the reverb you get when a train passes by. I thought it was an airplane revving engines or something. One of the Ca passengers all started yakking...it's an earthquake!. I laughed and said there was no way. Never heard of an earthquake in NC (although I was aware of some fault lines nearby).
Man, was I wrong!!! Got on the plane and headed to Utah...just in time to hear Irene had changed paths and was headed for landfall in, guess where? Yep, home sweet home.
Thinking i picked the right time to go on vacation!!!
