I've had this album since it came out quite awhile back and the first three minutes and fifty seconds of this song is STILL my biggest daily ear worm. ( It is about spouse abuse. )

I don't know why, I just thought it was something I should post cause the first time I heard this song I was on my way into a service call in West Virginia, Within' an hour I found a Best Buy and bought the album that had just been released.

I find it memorizing, haunting, and I can listen to it all day every day (as I often do in my head).

Yous guys will prolly HATE it!

I listened to it- all the way through - and it was all right! I especially liked the instrumental intro and then the lead singer came in and I liked his voice. I appreciate the lyrics, too. Then comes the instrumental ending part that speeds to a crescendo of head-banging bliss (I guess)(okay, I was "bangin" my head at this point) and right when I thought maybe I couldn't listen any more, it abruptly stopped. I can definitely appreciate the guitar skills demonstrated in that song and see why you would love it, Rock. That is about it for me.

Just read that a member of Metallica went off and started Megadeath. Is there a Metallica v. Megadeath controversy in the metal music world? And btw, the article I read didn't tell me who the lead singer is in Metallica (on this song). It's not the Ulrich guy on drums, is it?

Dear Stella,

Lars Urlich is the lead guitarist of Metallica, James Hatfield does the lead vocals and plays "support guitar" as in rhythm and double leads for the band.

Metallica and "Megadeth" (as it is truly spelled) are almost one in the same in style and presentation, perhaps the top 2 metal bands of modern times tho' they have both been around for decades I am not aware of ANY stories of a Metallica member ever crossing over to Megadeth. So if it is a fact I'm quite surprised since I know quite a lot about the history of both of these bands.

Thanks for setting me straight on all this, Rock. I should have caught the spelling error on "Megadeth".

I got the other information from Wikipedia. Here's a section about the band member switch:

". . . In May 1983, Metallica traveled to Rochester, New York to record its debut album, Metal Up Your Ass, with production duties handled by Paul Curcio.[13] Band members decided to kick Mustaine out of the band due to drug and alcohol abuse and violent behavior just prior to the sessions on April 11, 1983.[14] Exodus guitarist Kirk Hammett flew in to replace Mustaine the same afternoon.

Mustaine, who went on to found Megadeth, has expressed his dislike for Hammett in interviews. He said Hammett "stole my job."[15] Mustaine was "pissed off" because he believes Hammett became popular by playing the guitar leads that Mustaine wrote.[16]..."

That's where I got the idea Ulrich was the drummer:

". . . Metallica was formed in Los Angeles, California, in late 1981 when drummer Lars Ulrich placed an advertisement in a Los Angeles newspaper—The Recycler—which read "Drummer looking for other metal musicians to jam with Tygers of Pan Tang, Diamond Head and Iron Maiden."[9] . . . A second advertisement was placed in The Recycler for a position as lead guitarist. Dave Mustaine answered, and after seeing his expensive guitar equipment, Ulrich and Hetfield recruited him. . ."

If this is incorrect information, you should go edit it over there on Wikipedia because I'm sure a lot of people read it. Check it out:

It is possible however, seems to me from my recollection that Hatfield and Urlich were high school buddies and the founders of Metallica who never had 3 guitar players.

I also recall Hatfield and Urlich having a falling out temporarily where Urlich left the band for a brief period at some point which would have left the possibility of Mustaine filling in during that period then going on to subsequently form Megadeth.

Saw it in a documentary, just can't recall which one or the specifics.

Ya' know what?

I'm sick and tired of all these tennis shoe spammers currently on this site.

Most weeks I am working 7 days and though I see them I have no time and little motivation to slap them across the screen as I have been known to do for many years now...

You must admit, I was good at taking these clowns out and the rest of you... well, let's just say I'm disappointed in yous guys in regards to this matter.

I am still with you but the new A.I. judges SUCK and the forum has become quite bland, Don't ya' think?

SOMEBODY step up PLEASE!

Bump the good threads.

Heyyyyy Rock! good to see you!

even at it's best, the board is bland this time of year compared to AI Season...

as for the spammers... if Jim doesn't care, why should I care? it's not like the spammers stick around long enough to read replies anyway... they just drop a load and disappear... if Jim doesn't ban them, they might revisit, but only to drop another load...

Hope you guys are doing well and can rejoin us after the holiday season for another round of AI, even if it sucks...
