"We've Got Tonight" - Bob Seger
"I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" - Aerosmith

so I'm going to take the list as it appears and divide it into groups of 3 and pick singers...
I'm thinking this is contestant's pick
Phillip - "Imagine" John Lennon
Joshua - "My All" - Mariah Carey
Jessica - "No More Drama" - Mary J Blige
I'm thinking the middle group is Judges picks and they wanted to pick something odd for each
Jessica - "We've Got Tonight" - Bob Seger
Joshua - "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" - Aerosmith
Phillip - "Beggin" - Madcon yea I know.. odd, but I think it works
and I'm thinking this is Jimmy's picks
Joshua - "I'll Be There" - Jackson 5
Phillip - "Disease" - Matchbox 20
Jessica - "I'd Rather Go Blind" - Etta James
most of these, you could swap Jessica and Joshua and it'd probably still work for me...

"I'd Rather Go Blind" is obviously Jessica's choice; I'll be shocked if it isn't. She's recorded and performed it numerous times during her career.

| Wow! Usually be the top 3, it is pretty easy to guess who is singing what, but I can imagine Jess, Josh, and Phillip singing all of them. This is gonna be tough, but Jess has got to pick a couple of young songs to not alienate her fans...and Josh has to tone down his "churchy songs"...and Phillip needs to act like he cares. |

Besides the original Etta James version, I think Rachel Crow (from X Factor) did a far superior version of "I'd Rather Go Blind". She had the right grit and blues flavor IMO, even though I thought at the time she was too young to sing this song.

While I don't think the songs themselves are lame, I think that "Imagine" has been done too often on AI and "I'll Be There" doesn't seem to be a good song to showcase any of the remaining contestants' voices. It always makes me shake my head - of all the songs to choose from, TPTB seem to either keep picking the same ones or some obscure song that ruins the contestant's chances (Paula was good at the latter).

| I am a little surprised that IMAGINE (as well as I'LL BE THERE) are in this line up. If P2 sings it, I do worry that his gritty voice is not right for this song. I hope I am wrong. I would rather hear BEN sung than the other Jackson number. Chris Colfer, with his almost soprano voice, did a good job with it on GLEE last week, I think. But when he was singing it lovingly to Darren Criss, his sweetheart on the show, I could not help but visualize that rat in my mind. It kinda ruined it for me... |
