I am a Katherine Jenkins fan ever since I saw her on Dr. Who. I am one of the biggest Evanescence and Amy Lee fans there is. My thoughts on this performance is that I certainly prefer the original but it is very cool for me to hear it in this more operatic style as well. |

She's one of the remaining contestants on DWTS. She's an amazing singer and a great dancer, too! |

don't get me wrong... she has a very pretty voice... it's just that the original song is sort of like having a defibrillator attached and you're being jolted back to life...
in this version, it sounded more like an angel welcoming you into heaven... |

I understand.
If you ever heard Evanescence do it live, I wonder what you think? The time I heard it, the singer was terribly off key. Not sure if she is like that live often or if she had a bad monitor mix and couldn't hear herself. |

here's a live version I found for each of them...
first Katherine...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8xT7bk4JF8
and now Evanescence...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3MKTm-49uI
maybe you saw them on a bad night, but from these two videos, I can tell you which one I'd rather see in person... Evanescence, hands down... not that Katherine's version is horrible or anything, I'd just be afraid of falling asleep at a Katherine Jenkins concert...
I wouldn't kick either out of bed, though...

Yes incredibly different and very fun for me to hear in the two different ways. I don't understand why people once hearing a song one way will not enjoy hearing it sang in another way. Simply gets more opportunities to enjoy the song that way. Now before anybody calls me a hypocrite for my dislike of Skylar's version of fortunate son or Faith Hill's version of piece of my heart their are some ways that a song should not be sung. |

I didn't know she could dance. I did know she was freaking gorgeous. UV I have to add that I saw Evanescence in concert shortly after Ben had left the band. Amy sounded awesome all night but I have heard from others that Amy often does not sound as good live as in the studio versions. I think it is a shame that Ben left the band because even though Ev has put out some quite good music since he left it has never had the same magic. Ev could have been one of the best few bands ever. |

it's not that I don't enjoy "covers with a twist"...
I love Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower" and "Like a Rolling Stone" but I also love Hendrix's quite different renditions of those songs too...
I love the Beatles "With a Little Help From My Friends", but I love Cocker's version as well...
I love CCR's Proud Mary, but Tina just blew me away the first time I saw her sing it...
so yea, for me, it's more of the actual cover itself rather than not liking covers at all... |

I know how much people love Tina's Proud Mary. For me it is a little too much. I was not much of a Tina fan in her first go round with fame. I actually liked her songs "What's Love got to do with it" And "We don't need another Hero" better than any of her early stuff. I know one of the most hated covers ever is Madonna's American Pie but to me it sounds pretty cool. Not nearly as good as the original but just another different song for me to enjoy. |
