Elise needs to clarify her quote, Roi, because we can all interpret it differently and still not know what she REALLY meant.

I posted this as a separate thread because someone mentioned it in another thread, and I do feel it deserves discussion. If she said it to the media, she has to explain her comments, just like when Colton said he didn't care the other night. He explained his comments and apologized.

Hollie has been ripped on just as much as Elise if you think about it.
Some of it was warranted, yes.
Elise deserved some of her negative remarks, IMO. I don't think many of her performances were even "Great". Jessica and Joshua have had many stellar performances, even though I do not like Joshua's "screaming". As far as overall voice goes, I cannot deny that Joshua and Jessica are probably the two "best" singers in the contest.
Skylar is one of the best performers if not the best performer, and Phillip has had his good moments. All my opinion, of course.

Elsie and Hollie have definitely given the least strongest performances overall of the remaining 6. And I have no ponies in this race anymore. I don't "hate" any of them and I don't "love" any of them either. But I do sometimes cheer for the underdogs when I feel they are not being as pimped as others, even if they aren't giving the "best" (subjective) performance. Hollie and Elise are the underdogs right now. I will cheer for Hollie over Elise because in my opinion, Hollie is more likable. If Elise gives a great performance like she did on "Whole Lotta Love" and I like it, then I will give her proper credit. But it's of course my opinion... I may not like the songs as much as AWR or anyone else for that matter.

It has nothing to do with Deandre, lol.
He's still my favorite, and as far as I'm concerned no one took his spot. I knew he wouldn't win and I fully expected him to make top 6 at best. So he would've been gone soon anyway.

All of this is just my opinion, so don't get your panties in a wad about it anyone, lol..

Roi, you mine as well be responding to a brick wall. Gman is delusional. Elise gets the vast majority of the criticism from the judges, and it isn't even close. Hollie(very deservedly) was blasted early on but the judges have seemed to make an effort to keep her around by praising her imho inappropriately. Jessica and Skylar are untouchable by the judges, but at least Jimmy sees the negative in Jessica. Phillip is certainly a judge favorite and I don't have much of a problem with that as he has been my second favorite from the beginning. Joshua is fine and the judges never have anything negative about him, but he has no chance of winning imho.

again... Elise never said she was more deserving of praise than the other contestants...

I'm not going to speak for her to explain what she meant by what she said...

but I will once again say that she might be "more deserving" of praise than what she has received... considering the amount of praise for mediocre performances the other contestants are receiving...

why is this so difficult to understand?

and Gman? Elise is a judge's favorite? are you serious or is this part of your reverse strategy?

"you better free your mind, instead"

Now that I think about it she has gotten a lot of criticism from the judges, but at the same time when they praise her they really do heap praise on her. And Randy named him as one of his favorites to win in an ABC interview a few weeks ago. Which only made him look like more of an idiot, because he named all but 2 and one of those that he didn't name has only been in the bottom 3 once, and Elise has been in it 5 times now. And one of the others that he named just got voted off.

AWR, you and I both love Elise!

She has has one of the best voices among the remaining contestants. Phillip consistently sounds almost exactly the same and Josh has consistently screamed; the others have been inconsistent, including Elise. I can still tolerate Phillip, but have to brace myself for when Joshua begins screaming. Ugh.

Honestly, when Jessica sings I think I actually fall asleep. She is the most boring singer since Pia--the ballad queen. Joshua gives his requisite scream, while one-trick-pony Skylar twangs away, and David Bowie Jr. Hollie just does her karaoke. Phillip, though he does sound the same for every song, chooses songs that I like and does perform them well.Elise does miss at times, but she always picks songs I like and has by far the most interesting and enjoyable voice IMO. I did like Colton because at least he changed up the songs from the originals and made them his own. I wish to God that the judges didn't waste the save on Jessica, but given that she is the chosen one, that wasn't happening.

Hey UV, where's the article about Colton apologizing for his "I don't care" comment? I would LOVE to read that.

Here's one of them:

Dixon repeated his suggestion that his choice of a Lady GaGa song could have confused his fanbase and added that he was also unhappy with how he came across on the show.

"After seeing myself come off the stage after 'September', I hated the way I looked on camera and was portrayed," he said. "And I looked over at you [Seacrest], and I was like, 'Man, TV editing is something, huh?'

"I think that was another contributing factor and that's one of the reasons I apologized on stage that night [after the results]."

Dixon explained that he felt like he "needed" to say sorry to his fans, adding: "Here I am trying to be someone that people can look up to and to start a movement, and I acted out of character and I felt like I let some people down by doing that, so I definitely needed to make it right while I still could on the show."

However, Dixon revealed that he felt "very encouraged" by the judges when he left the show, saying that he is now "ready to start writing and to put out a record".

American Idol continues Wednesday at 8/7c on Fox.

American Idol is not about rewarding hard work....it never has been. Its nice when it works out that way, but it rarely does.

The show is about a combination of marketability, talent and performing ability. Sometimes the most talented wins, sometimes the best performer wins, sometimes it is just the last man or woman standing.

Elise is not the most marketable, the most talented, or the best performer. She is however, very good and deserved to make the top 10.

I think Joshua, Jessica, and Hollie have the best voices of the ones still in the competition. Skylar is by far the best performer. Phil is the next best performer and all others are far back.

Elise is the next one to go home and should, followed by Hollie. This could reverse depending on the performances this week.

imho.

"I don't feel I was being rude," she said. "I really want to be natural and speak the way I want to speak. I think what compelled me to do it was [Jennifer Lopez] said I wasn't connecting and being emotional with my song and I didn't want to just stand there and smile and not connect their conversation with me. I wanted to engage and I don't discredit anything they said, I just felt I needed to explain that I am always approaching my song from an emotional standpoint. It's hard to do that in a minute and a half and make it work."

It's also hard dealing with much younger competition and more than rumored favoritism with the judges.

"I guess it always does hurt me a little bit when I feel like all these comments are going out to all the young contestants when I'm more deserving in a way because I have worked so hard and gone through so many things to get here, but at the same time I really respect and admire how well they are doing. So it's a bitter sweet thing. I try not to dwell on it because there's no point."

As someone who lives in NJ, I can tell you that everyone from NJ sounds really rude and sound like they have an attitude problem. Most don't intend to sound that way, but that's just the way it is.

(I've developed a thick skin and cast off my southern politeness and give as good as I get.)

Here go hell come.
