Speaking of irked, Elise broke the unspoken cardinal rule of Idol contestants and talked back to the judges during her second round critique. Unhappy and confused by their comments to show more emotion, she explained the point she was trying to get across after the show.

"I don't feel I was being rude," she said. "I really want to be natural and speak the way I want to speak. I think what compelled me to do it was [Jennifer Lopez] said I wasn't connecting and being emotional with my song and I didn't want to just stand there and smile and not connect their conversation with me. I wanted to engage and I don't discredit anything they said, I just felt I needed to explain that I am always approaching my song from an emotional standpoint. It's hard to do that in a minute and a half and make it work."

It's also hard dealing with much younger competition and more than rumored favoritism with the judges.

"I guess it always does hurt me a little bit when I feel like all these comments are going out to all the young contestants when I'm more deserving in a way because I have worked so hard and gone through so many things to get here, but at the same time I really respect and admire how well they are doing. So it's a bitter sweet thing. I try not to dwell on it because there's no point."

Your inability to allow anyone to post news or have an opinion about Elise is quite tiring, and bordering on obsession. I saw you personally attack at least three other posters here. We are allowed to post news and our opinions. Get over it.

Roi, I understand that, but just the fact that she started the post after finding Elise's quote coupled with a history of bashing her, is pretty indicative that she a hater and wants everyone else to agree with her. Obviously, I like Elise and UV for that matter, so I do not want to make a big deal out of it, but come on!

yeah because if someone has a negative opinion about Elise, I can do something about it.As I said in another post, to each his own--we like who we like and we don't who we don't. Once Deandre went bye byes, you have become the Elise hater. I cannot imagine that you have been a fan of all the contestants who were left after Deandre went home, but the only one you have gone on a crusade against is Elise. When she is eliminated, life will go on. I will watch next year and have my favorite then too just like Cook, Allison, Siobhan, Durbin, and Elise. No obsession here, sorry.

if we would only post articles that everyone agrees with... I think we wouldn't have any...

it's just a news article... and while she might not like Elise, she's not the only one... and she wasn't busting Elise's or anyone else's balls...

but instead of ignoring the article.. or simply disagreeing with the article and explaining why.. you busted UV's balls for posting it...

in other words... instead of debating the actual point of the article... you made a personal attack on UV...

now.. can y'all kiss and make up, please?

and let me watch

I really fail to understand why, in ANY way, Elise feels she's "more deserving."

if you read the article, she tells why... but it's unclear what she really meant by it...

"I guess it always does hurt me a little bit when I feel like all these comments are going out to all the young contestants when I'm more deserving in a way because I have worked so hard and gone through so many things to get here, but at the same time I really respect and admire how well they are doing"

now if she meant she's more deserving of praise than anyone else in the competition... then yea... that's ummm... not a good reflection on her...

but if she means in the context of "favoritism" by the judges in the previous sentence of the article... that she's more deserving of praise from the judges than what she's getting from them... well... I would argue that it appears to me that they have given her more criticism than they've given the others...

in this respect, she's sort of in a similar situation as Haley was last year... Randy was a complete asshole to Haley last year... if I'd been Haley's dad, I would have *****-slapped him mercilessly...

I don't think he's been near as bad to Elise this year, but none of the judges have praised her much except for her Zep performance... true, none of her performances have been as great as that one... but most every one of the other contestants have had smoke blown up their *** for mediocre performances...

I would argue that Elise is more deserving of the same smoke up her *** than what she's getting...

whether you agree with that or not, does that help understand?

Roi, you explained this very well and reasonably. I tend to agree with you. I would also like to add that Elise is 7 to 12 years older than the other contestants, and in that age bracket 7-10 years makes a big difference. She must feel like the odd woman out in a number of ways: her emotional level, her personal experiences, her priorities, being interested in the same things the others are interested in and several other ways. Elise might find it hard to relate and, quite frankly, may not want to because she has advanced through the stage(s) that the others are just beginning to experience. I feel for her on this point. I recognize her talent and like her style of singing better than most of the rest and I am rooting for her to do well. That said, I can see where her facial expressions and sometimes what she says and how she says it might give off the impression that she has a bad attitude or entitled. I give her a bit of a break, though, for the reasons I just mentioned and for what Roi has pointed out - she definitely has much less smoke blown up her butt and when the judges relentlessly criticize her for an extended period of time like they did this past week, well, I can see her trying to hold it in but a person can take just so much. Saying out loud that she feels she is more deserving, however, is asking for trouble. Most people won't take the time to analyze it like Roi did and will just hold it against her. It would have been better left unsaid and I hope she can pull it together this week, keep her cool and pull off a great rendition of Queen. If not, too bad really - she may then be the next to go and I will miss her. I hope she does well.

I'm a redhead. Deal with it!

{siiiiigh} Yes Roi, she states why she thinks she deserves it more, she said, "because I have worked so hard and gone through so many things to get here,"

Fine. I will word my original question differently. I fail to understand why she thinks she is more deserving. So she worked hard. So she's gone through many things to get to AI. Yeah...her and all the other contestants. So, how is she more deserving?

I'm not sure whether you read my whole response or not, but what I said was maybe she didn't mean she was more deserving of winning or praise than the other contestants..

but in the context of "judge's favoritism" she was more deserving of having smoke blown up her *** than what she has received...

is that more understandable?

Thanks UV for posting that. You may have given me a new voting strategy.

I think I'm gonna in the midst of all my power voting for Skylar this week I may throw one each to all the others in order to get this arrogant ***** to go away once and for all!

In what way is "Queen Elise" more deserving than the others? Just because you're 28 and look like you've been around the block a few times doesn't mean you're any better than anyone else! In fact, I'd say as a performer she's easily the least natural and comfortable one left!

What judges favoritism? She clearly is a judges favorite!

FWIW, VoteFair recommends my strategy as a way to get more fair results...

again... Elise never said she was more deserving of praise than the other contestants...

I'm not going to speak for her to explain what she meant by what she said...

but I will once again say that she might be "more deserving" of praise than what she has received... considering the amount of praise for mediocre performances the other contestants are receiving...

why is this so difficult to understand?

and Gman? Elise is a judge's favorite? are you serious or is this part of your reverse strategy?
