Handing down a yea or nay ends for the "judges" as soon as the voting goes to the public. The voters then become the "judges". At that point, JLo, STyler and Randy (AND Jimmy) become nothing more than commentators and/or pimps, regardless of whether they are sincere or not. They each have their favorite(s) and reasons for what they say. Jimmy has the most at stake because he will be signing the winner, so I would expect him to try to sway the votes toward someone he thinks would be most successful ($$$). The others may just have favorites or are told to favor one contestant over another for whatever reason, however it may (and frequently does) come off as "pimping". I don't like any of it much (except for the rare entertainment value of a few of the comments), and since I don't vote, it doesn't affect my opinion of the performances. For example, I think the so-called "judges" as well as Jimmy more recently, have been pimping Joshua big time but it's not his fault, so I evaluate his performances without regard to any of that. They may be able to influence some voters and for that reason I wish they would just keep their mouths shut. In fact, I don't think they are necessary at all once we have the top 12/13. I'd rather just hear longer versions of the songs with Ryan moderating and let the viewers be the judges. If for some reason we have to hear the "judges" at all, why not just a brief overall comment from each at the end of the show? Make the show about the contestants - what a concept!?!

I'm a redhead. Deal with it!

Can't wait to see who Jimmy throws under the bus of his three favorites.

will that influence your poll rankings?

Probably, because whomever he throws under the bus seems to go home ... but it makes me like them more. I can't stand pimping...

Is it pimping when he's right? I just thought of it as pimping when he was wrong. I mean, I've actually agreed with him a number of times. . . .

Jimmy uses harsh, rude and at times unprofessional terms and phrases to critique some of the contestants. IMO, while he is right on certain matters, it is the way he says certain things that put what he says in a whole other league than some of his comments about contestants he seems to favor. He is one person that should give us more insight into the etiology of the contestants failure or success on any given performance. He can leave the excessive, over-blown, unfair, histrionic responses to the "judges" who lose all sense of decorum to make what at most are senseless, useless, unhelpful, biased assessments. Ugh!

I thought I would go back and see if anyone was close to having all 13 ranked correctly to date.

Congrats to Albert and dmarie for having the right top 3 from the very beginning of 13 idols.

Amen to this.

And we know that Jimmy isn't always "right" in America's eyes ... he encouraged Skylar to sing one of the songs in the week of her elimination, didn't he? I don't think he's as "in touch" with what is relevant today as he might think he is. He certainly has more experience and knowledge than I do, but I jut don't feel that he's very current.

LMAO!! Too funny!! I am sure there is something more accurate in recent weeks or even mid season. I wonder who had the most predictions correct in a row. I think the only ones I got "right" were Jeremy, Jermaine and Elise... oh, and Erika. On Elise, I just kept predicting her to go home until she finally did.

Great comments Stella. I don't get why some of us hold it against the contestant if they feel the judges are Pimping them. Honestly I think that if the poster here likes the contestant a lot they look at it less like pimping then if they don't like the contestant. I am in total agreement with you that less judging and more singing would be awesome.

Well, I honestly don't get why
-- more people didn't like Deandre
-- so many people liked Elise
-- Elise's diva-like hand movements didn't annoy more people
-- some of you kill deer ... and eat deer
-- Joshua's screaming doesn't irritate more people
-- people don't talk about Joshua's cow-neck girlie sweaters
... etc.

To each his or her own, right?

Why have a forum for discussion if we can't discuss?

Why does everything have to be the way you see it?

Why are you so argumentative?

lol

why does the word "why" mean "why" ?

I mean.. why isn't there another word we use instead of "why"?

sure sure we can always use "for what reason...?" but why isn't there another monosyllabic word for "why" ?

why? oh why?
