How America will probably vote: 01. Phil 02. Jessica 03. Skylar 04. Hollie 05. Colton 06. Hee Jun 07. Shannon 08. DeAndre 09. Elise 10. Jermaine 11. Joshua 12. Jeremy 13. Erika
UV you know I love you but Deandre we have discussed before. IMO a weaker version of Jeremy who you have ranked next to last. As for who you rank last Erika is one of the best voices in the competition. |

1. Jessica 2. Phillip 3. Joshua 4. Shannon (providing she picks a better song this week, otherwise she's going down in my ranking. 5. Hollie/ Erika 6. Erika/ Hollie 7. Jermaine 8. Elise 9. Colton 10. Hee Jun 11. DeAndre 12. Jeremy 13. Skylar
I know a lot of people like Skylar for her performance, but I just don't think she has that much of a voice. She had some real bumb notes. I think her performance skill is distracting people from the problems with her voice, but that's just my opinion.
Dawnmarie
I know she's not technically the best singer in the group, but she has my personal favorite voice of the group, and as I stated in my review of her and Phillip both, I look at the whole package more than just the voice. I think most people should, as the people that are great singers but lacking in other areas- Pia Toscano- are the ones that don't make as much of an impression and tend to be the victim of "shock boots".
Pia wasn't lacking in any way whatsoever. She was a victim of overconfidence of her fans and jealousy of others. This is a singing competition and I will choose to back the singers who have the best voices. |

Notes:I thought Hollie's performance of Reflections was all over the map and gave it a 4 out of 10 points, but the parts that were good were GREAT and her voice really stuck with me as being unique and beautiful so I rated her higher in my rankings. Also I agree with Jennifer and Steven that there IS something mesmerizing about Jeremy's voice and it's just too bad his appearance will do him in. Jermaine will be challenged by the different genre competition, as will several of the others of course. Lastly, I DON'T like whatever tone the judges love in Elise's voice at all. It sounds nasally and boring to me. And I have an irrational averstion to Skylar that I can't quite account for and she's already been around too long for my tastes! I mean that outfit she wore for her song was horrible on her body type, she was way too loud and rambunctious. Just too much! LOL.
Jeremy and Erika have two of the best voices in the competition. They certainly don't have the looks that the industry wants to promote. |

The obligatory defend Pia post!
You need to learn that not everyone thinks of Pia the same way you do. I used to have that same attitude to the extreme with Allison in season 8. I personally found Pia boring. That's great that you love her, but I didn't. Just because I said she was lacking doesn't mean you had to say that. You could have just done the rankings like everyone else and not said anything. Not to mention you're truly delusional if you think everything about her is perfect. No band/musician/singer is perfect.
Let me ask you this, do you mean "best voice" as in "whose voice do I like the best" or "who is the most technically proficient"? If your answer is the latter, you're kinda missing the point entirely! I vote for whose voice I happen to like the best, and those happen to be Skylar and Phillip. If Pia's voice was the most pleasing and enjoyable to your ears last year, and if Jeremy and Erika are this year, great. But if technical singing ability is what you're after, why are you watching this show in the first place? |

Lance - I appreciate your opinions and respect your posts but I don't care to drain myself of energy to justify why I appreciate DeAndre. I will simply write that *in my opinion* his voice is the best male voice in the competition as a whole. Joshua is great ~ never said he wasn't ~ but he is not a favorite of *mine*. To me, Joshua is too shouty and not my style. I was not a Fantasia fan or Jacob Lusk fan either and he reminds me a little of both of them.
I am well aware that a lot of people don't like DeAndre or his voice. After an emotional 24 hours and losing the fight to save my dog, I just think it's not really worth my time or energy to defend my choices much past this post. |

So sorry to hear that! I can't imagine not having my dog around.
To keep this thread sort of on topic, I think Lance's tone towards you was a bit rude. You know my opinion of DeAndre but he really has a tendency to act like everyone else on here has to have the same opinions as him. |

Very sorry about your dog. I come strong with my opinions. I don't think everyone has to share my opinions but what is the point about being wimpy about your opinions. I fully understand your not feeling up to going into much of a defense of your opinions right now. I look forward to when you are feeling better and more up to debating and defending your opinions. My favorite thing in any debate is somebody showing me that I am wrong and me coming around to their opinion. As for posting my rankings I am nowhere close to being ready to do that. I need to listen to them a lot more to find some separation. It is not good that I don't see that separation yet because that means I haven't heard anybody I find outstanding like Pia last year. |

| UV One more thing I definitely share your opinion on Fantasia and as much as I liked Jacob last year he floundered later in the competition. |

So how did we do?
dmarie, cajhawk (who?) and I all had the correct top 2 (I predicted that was how America would vote but they were not my favorites!).
Not too shabby!
But boy was I off on Shannon, Heejun and Joshua!
I also listed in my post my personal favorites at the time, who were Deandre and Jessica. My how a few months can change your opinion. So see, Lance ... I did like Jessica the most of any female months ago. Not sure what changed, but I wound up liking Hollie the most of the girls toward the end.
I'm going to dig up some more old threads to see how we did. |
