Way late getting to Idol tonight, as I was at what was hands down one of the best concerts I've ever been too, witnessed from literally 2 feet from the stage! I'll reveal who in a YouTube link at the end of this post, but for now let's talk Idol!

It seems like it took us forever to get here, but now that we're here, rank the top 13 from favorite to least favorite!

1.Skylar Laine
2.Phillip Phillips
3.Joshua Ledet
4.Jessica Sanchez
5.Shannon Magrane
6.Erika Van Pelt- Her performance on Tuesday was towards the bottom of my list, but in hindsight I may have underrated it. Either way, tonight she was truly stellar, and I just absolutely love her tone!
7.Elise Testone
8.Hollie Cavanagh
9.Colton Dixon
10.Jeremy Rosado- I may have overrated his performance on Tuesday. Either way, this is partially due to him being chosen over the far more talented Reed Grimm and Jen Hirsh!
11.Jermaine Jones
12.Hee Jun Han
13.DeAndre Brackensick- Go away already! He was marginally better tonight, but still the last 4 letters of his name are how I feel anytime he opens his mouth to sing.

And 3/4 of the incredible musicians I witnessed tonight from 2 feet away, but a fsuperior bass player was there tonight- John Patitucci. Look him up!

Here's my ranking:

1. Jessica
2. Phillip
3. Joshua
4. Shannon (providing she picks a better song this week, otherwise she's going down in my ranking.
5. Hollie/ Erika
6. Erika/ Hollie
7. Jermaine
8. Elise
9. Colton
10. Hee Jun
11. DeAndre
12. Jeremy
13. Skylar

I know a lot of people like Skylar for her performance, but I just don't think she has that much of a voice. She had some real bumb notes. I think her performance skill is distracting people from the problems with her voice, but that's just my opinion.

I dubbed him "DeeDee Needledick" the first time I saw him on TV - and thus he shall ever be. I'm pretty sure he'll be one of the first to be thrown under the bus.

If that's true, you better email the official American Idol site and tell them they're wrong!

I know she's not technically the best singer in the group, but she has my personal favorite voice of the group, and as I stated in my review of her and Phillip both, I look at the whole package more than just the voice. I think most people should, as the people that are great singers but lacking in other areas- Pia Toscano- are the ones that don't make as much of an impression and tend to be the victim of "shock boots".

First of all want to say that this year's vote for top 13 was the best I remember. No obvious duds; great group of singers!

Here is my personal ranking:
1. Phillip
2. Jessica
3. Hollie
4. Shannon
5. Joshua
6. Colton
7. Jeremy
8. Erika
9. Elise
10. Hee Jun
11. Jermaine
12. Skylar
and easily 13. DeAndre

I thought the sing-off for the last three spots was great; just would have rather seen White Chocolate instead of DeAndre. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like there have been way fewer pitch problems in the new studio than the old one. There were some really good performances!

This the the FIRST YEAR that I think America and the judges got it EXACTLY right!

Was glad to see, Erica, Jeremy and DeAndre as the judges' picks...PERFECT choices.

Glad to see Reed and Eben go home...they simply were not better than ANY of the top 13!

At this point, I cannot rank the top 13 in any order....just very pleased for ALL of them and believe everyone of them are very talented and dserving!

This season's talent (COLLECTIVELY) is simply THE BEST EVER!

I can't rank them at this point either. I'm pretty pleased with the top 10 chosen by the voters and 2 out of 3 of the wildcard picks. I don't think Jeremy should be there. Instead I would have preferred either Hallie or Aaron. I wish they would have had a chance to sing for their lives instead of Jeremy and Brielle (she was a complete waste of a pick IMO).

I can't rank them because I can't even match the names with the person for a few of the girls: Hollie and Shannon in particular. I have an early positive impression of Elise and Phillip, but have to hear more before I can judge them better. Jessica and Joshua are excellent singers but how will they do with the different genres? I really like Heejun's voice and personality but if he doesn't improve his diction and pronunciation, I might drop him down the list. I love the idea of deeper voices with Jermaine and Erika but I'm not sure they can handle the different genres. I have to see if DeAndre takes JLo's advice to show his range more and lighten up on the falsetto and Colton has to perform a time or two more before I can decide about him. I see that Skylar has the spunk but I just can't appreciate her style of country, so I guess I have decided to place her low in my rankings, although maybe she can change my mind. Finally, Jeremy seems to be a sweet guy with a decent voice but I think he should be the first to go. So that's it for me - I can only come up with my bottom two right now.

Patitucci is indeed one of the world's greatest bass players. As a pro bassist myself (albeit far more pedestrian) all I can do is gape in awe when he plays.

I first saw him way before he was famous, back in the '80s.He was backing Bob Bennett, a christian singer-songwriter, who played this little Lutheran church in Huntington Beach. I had seen Bennett before and liked his work, but this time all I could do was watch Patitucci play circles around him, both on upright and electric. There were only about 40 people in the audience - but it was a treat.

5. Joshua Ledet
6. DeAndre Brackensick
7. Skylar Laine
8. Phillip Phillips

12.Jermaine Jones
13.Hee Jun Han

Some of the positions are real close and could be interchangeable for me. This list will change by next week of course, lol.
I think Hee Jun's personality is kind of strange in a way...can't put my finger on it, but just seems weird. I know a lot of people like his humor, but not me. Maybe I'll warm up to it in weeks ahead.

What's Up With THAT!!!

Thats awesome! He's truly a genius player, not to mention a super nice guy as well! (met him before the show)

2.Jessica
3.Shannon
4.Colton
5.Phillip
6.Hollie
7.Jeremy
8.Jermaine
9.Erika
10.HeeJun
11.Elise
12.DeAndre
13.Skylar

Notes:I thought Hollie's performance of Reflections was all over the map and gave it a 4 out of 10 points, but the parts that were good were GREAT and her voice really stuck with me as being unique and beautiful so I rated her higher in my rankings. Also I agree with Jennifer and Steven that there IS something mesmerizing about Jeremy's voice and it's just too bad his appearance will do him in.
Jermaine will be challenged by the different genre competition, as will several of the others of course. Lastly, I DON'T like whatever tone the judges love in Elise's voice at all. It sounds nasally and boring to me. And I have an irrational averstion to Skylar that I can't quite account for and she's already been around too long for my tastes! I mean that outfit she wore for her song was horrible on her body type, she was way too loud and rambunctious. Just too much! LOL.
